Upload Issues:
If your uploaded file does not seem to work, we have identified these 3 specific issues.
- Your file must be a plain text file. If you save as unicode, or UTF-8, you will see extra characters when you try to view the file using the show/hide data option.
- If you cut and paste the file from another site, you must be sure to preserve the formatting of the file. Cutting off a piece fo the header, or including too much from the web page can break the file. Here is one example:
The Genbank format is provided by NCBI Entrez browser. In this example the user copied the whole file, but also included some extraneous material from the web page at the top. The correct Genbank format is here. You can see the extraneous material is removed.
Either of these mistakes or other file format issue will produce the following message or a similar one:Error: Unable to read sequence 'sequence.fasta' Died: eprimer3 terminated: Bad value for '-sequence' with -auto defined
- Your upload preserves line endings from a mac or dos operating system. We have resolved this issue for you by stripping line ending characters from your file. You might have seen it in releases before V. 1.3
